General Introduction of Sodium Bicarbonate:

A branch of bicarbonate salts which is presented by NaHCO3 or CHNaO3 formula and is produced by mineral processing from trona and chemical methods.
It is one of the low water-soluble salts and is usually supplied as powder or a white odorless crystal, and only due to high heat it has physical transformation and may change color. In the case of using common Solvay method and no refining it has an ammonia odor.

  • Using baking soda for broilers:
    • Reducing the negative effects of heat stress: due to heat stress, the excretion of large amounts of carbon dioxide through respiration (panting) unbalances the acid and base of poultry’s body and by alkalinization of bird’s blood (alkalosis), ionized calcium in the blood which is necessary for bone formation and eggshell, reduces.
    • Prevention of Ascites Disease in Poultry.
    • Improvement in Growth and Increasing Conversion rate.
    • Improvement in Litter Quality: by replacing some of the ration salt with animal baking soda, the water consumption by poultries is greatly reduced and the problem of high humidity above the litter is solved.
    • Improvement in the effect of some anti-coccidiosis medicines: Concomitant use of Monensin and Salinomysin with baking soda, increases the effect of these medicines.
    • Usage of Baking Soda for Egg-laying Poultry:
      • Reduces the negative impact of heat stress
      • Improvement in quality and production and increasing the eggshell thickness (Specially in the beginning and the end of the production period)
    • Using Baking Soda for Dairy Cows and Beef Cattles:
      • Helping the elimination of metabolic acidosis problem.
      • Helping problems resulted of dietary changes: baking soda maintains acidity balance in rumen in the time of changing animal dietary, due to its buffering properties.
      • Balance and Adjust of Livestock Rations for Seasonal Changes.
      • Improvement in Food Consumption in Postpartum Period: in Postpartum period, the reduction of animal salvia secretion and rumen activity, results in reduction of food consumption which can have a negative effect on the entire lactation period of the animal, which this matter is not easily reversible. By adding baking soda to animal dietary, the reduction of salvia secretion is compensated and by adjusting the rumen PH, food consumption returns back to normal.
      • Improvement in quality and quantity of the produced milk: sodium bicarbonate is effective in maintaining acidity balance of rumen and by stimulation of food-degrading bacteria, it increases acetic acid (precursor part of fatty acids in cow’s udders). In addition to that, it is shown that baking soda is effective in rumen acidity regulation and the process of digestion.

  • Pharmaceutical Industries: sodium bicarbonate reduces stomach acid. It is used as an anti-acid for curing heartburn, indigestion and stomach discomfort. Sodium bicarbonate is a fast-acing anti-acid and is used as an antidote to tricyclic antidepressants.
  • Glass Industries: it is used as an extractive factor for molten glass bubbles and it prevents the color of the glass from becoming milky.
  • Firefighting Equipment: as the factor of producing carbon dioxide.
  • Knitting industries and Dyeing Industries: It makes color to insert into the fabric texture evenly, and unlike sodium chloride it does not result in corrosion of the steel pipes. Sodium sulfate is useful in dyeing as a regulator of loads on the textile and fabric surfaces, in the printing of textile goods.
  • Paper Industries (Kraft Paper) : for whitening and strengthening the paper.
  • Plastic and Polymer Industries: Baking soda is widely used as a catalyst and purifier in the process of producing polymers and complex plastics.

– Maintenance:

Keep in dry and cool place, out of interaction with other chemical materials such as acids and corrosive substances.

Consume up to two years after production.

Do not expose to direct sunlight and heat.

Warnings:

  • Avoid eating the material raw.
  • In the case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice as soon as possible. (its dust causes temporary damage to eyes)
  • Do not heat.
  • Avoid mixing with acidic or corrosive chemical materials due to producing carbon dioxide gas.
  • Prevent water and steam from reaching the product.
