General Introduction of Caustic Soda:

Caustic Soda or flaked Sodium Hydroxide is a solid white material, without any smell and it is in the form of flaked or granule (the shape of scales) which is highly water-soluble and produces extreme heat due to solution in water.

– Usage:

  • Chemical Industries: It is used for making soup and detergents. They use sodium hydroxide for solid soups (and potassium hydroxide for liquid soups) and some parts of non-acidic leaches (cleansers) and also Caustic soda is used in crude oil purifying.
  • Textile Industries and Paper Making: It is used for making synthetic textile fibers, and it is used in making papers as a whitening and ingredient.

– Maintenance:

Keep in dry and cool place, out of interaction with other chemical materials such as acids and corrosive substances.

Do not expose to sunlight and direct heat.

Consume up to two years after production.

Warnings:

  • Avoid taking the material orally, in the case of swallow seek medical advice as soon as possible.
  • In the case of contact with eyes rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice as soon as possible.
  • Avoid mixing with corrosive or acidic chemical materials.
  • Prevent water or steam from reaching the product due to causing extreme heat.
  • In the case of failure to follow safety tips and causing fire, the resultant fire is a chemical fire and should not be extinguished by water only.
